PITTSFORD, N.Y. - Junior Louis Stuerke (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) was selected as University Athletic Association Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 29 as announced by the league's office.
Stuerke finished 4-0 against NCAA Division III competition, winning both his matches at No. 1 doubles and No. 3/4 singles. He came back from a one-set deficit to earn the clinching point as No. 12 CWRU defeated No. 24 Stevens 6-3 on Saturday, taking the No. 4 singles match 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. He and junior CJ Krimbill (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Desert Mountain) won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
In an 8-1 win over local rival John Carroll, Stuerke played No. 3 singles and dropped just one game in each set. He and Krimbill earned an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.
The Spartans, who have won five consecutive matches against Division III opponents and are 13-8 on the season, travel to play No. 9 Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday.
