Krimbill Wins NCAA Singles Quarterfinal in Three Sets; Falls in Semifinals

MASON, OH - Junior CJ Krimbill (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) battled back from a one-set deficit today to defeat Moises Cardenas of California Lutheran in the NCAA Division III Men's Singles Quarterfinal at Lindner Family Tennis Center.

Krimbill dropped the opening set 7-5 to the hard-hitting Cardenas but took over in the final two sets, posting 6-2 and 6-1 wins to advance to the semifinal round for the first time in his career.

Krimbill again went three sets in the national semifinals against Skyler Butts of team champion Claremont Mudd-Scripps Colleges. He dropped the opening set 6-4, but bounced back for a 6-1 win in the second set to force a deciding set. Butts earned a 6-1 victory in the third set to advance to the national championship against teammate Warren Wood.
