HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Competing for the first time since jumping to No. 8 in the national rankings, the Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team didn't drop a set in a 9-0 victory versus NCAA Division II Tiffin University on Sunday at Van der Meer Tennis Center.
The Spartans improve to 5-2 in duals this season and will play five more matches over the next three days in South Carolina.
Also opening their spring trip, the Dragons drop to 7-4.
Five Spartans went 2-0 for the day led by sophomore No. 1 Christopher Krimbill (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain). Versus Tiffin senior Robbie Ball at first singles, Krimbill was victorious by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 1 doubles, Krimbill teamed with senior tri-captain Eric Klawitter (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) for an 8-2 win against Kyle Johnson and Nicholas Almeida. Klawitter also won at No. 3 singles with counts of 6-3, 6-4 versus Agustin Magone.
Additionally at 2-0 for the day were seniors John Healey (Columbia, Md./Atholton) and Derek Reinbold (Carmel, Ind./Park Tudor), junior Will Drougas (Roanoke, Va./Salem) and freshman James Fojtasek (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Woods).
The Spartans continue spring trip action with matches versus Division I George Mason University (D.C.) and fellow Division III Ohio Wesleyan University tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
