Dukes, Mullins and Patel Earn UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Case Western Reserve University wrestling junior Isaac Dukes (Ravenna, OH/Ravenna), baseball senior third baseman Chad Mullins (Fredericksburg, OH/Waynedale) and men's tennis junior Rohan Patel (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) have been tabbed University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week, announced the UAA office on Monday, February 28.

Dukes won his 100th career match and captured the 149-pound title at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Wabash College (IN). He posted a 3-0 record with a pin and two major decisions. Dukes, now 33-2 overall this season, will defend his national title from a year ago on March 11-12 at the NCAA Championship Tournament at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Mullins, the all-time hits leader in school history, batted .579 (11-of-19) with two homeruns and 11 runs batted-in during a 2-2 weekend for the Spartans. Mullins also walked three times and belted three doubles and a triple with eight runs scored. In eight games this season, he is batting .529 with three homers and 19 RBI. The Spartan baseball team (5-3 overall) is back in action on March 6 at Emory University (GA) at 12:00 p.m.

Patel posted 3-0 records in both singles and doubles play as the Spartans completed a 3-0 weekend in Michigan. Patel earned three victories at No. 3 singles, two at third doubles, and one at first doubles. The men's tennis team (4-3 overall) returns to action on Mar. 7 at The Citadel (SC) at 2:00 p.m.
