The Case Western Reserve University swimming and diving team will send a small contingent of swimmers to compete at the Midwest Invitational at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois this weekend.
With the University Athletic Association Championships happening this past weekend, only a few Spartans will make the trip to Chicago for the meet. Currently scheduled to attend for the Spartan men are seniors Stefan Roeseler and Vinicius Okada da Silva, sophomores James Anibal and Eli Rose, and freshmen Jakob Woerner, Jonathan Liu, Kyle Barclay, Nathan Callithen and Elad Fraiman. The women that are currently scheduled to attend the invite are seniors Abigail Dessart, Taylor Johnson and Inez Moore, juniors Renee Decker, Alli Drohosky, Suhan Mestha and Karine Zeidan, sophomores Becca Segel and Corri Sept, and freshmen Olivia Love and Caitlyn VonFeldt.
VonFeldt currently ranks ninth in Division III in the 200-yard backstroke with a 'B' cut time of 2:01.47, while Mestha ranks 12th in 100-yard backstroke ('B' cut time of 56.09) and 13th in the 200-yard backstroke ('B' cut time of 2:02.16).
The meet is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday, February 23rd and resume on Saturday, February 24th with preliminaries at 12:00 p.m. ET and finals at 6:00 p.m. ET.
The Spartan men are currently ranked 17th in Division III and the women are ranked 23rd, according to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll.
Results from the meet will be posted daily to athletics.case.edu, with a recap of the Spartans' performances at the meet to be posted following the completion of competition on Saturday.
