Following Winter Break and a training trip to Florida, the Case Western Reserve University swimming and diving teams will be back in the pool this weekend, when the teams host Ohio Northern University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 21st. In addition, the Spartan women will be competing against NCAA Division II Hillsdale College, which only fields a women's team.
Prior to the start of the meet, the Spartans will honor their graduating class with a special 'Senior Day' ceremony, as the group competes in the final home contest of their careers. The team will recognize its three senior men's team members – Andrew Henning, David Merriman and John Tomko – and the two graduating women's squad members – Emily Boluda and Selena Mufti – prior to the start of the meet.
Fans can follow the action on Saturday with a live video webcast at http://athletics.case.edu/sports/mswimdive/live and live results at http://www.collegeswimming.us/results/56353/. The 'Senior Day' ceremony prior to the start of the meet will be webcasted as well at the same link.
The Spartan men will enter the meet with an overall record of 6-2 following their first-place finish at the Wooster Invitational on December 3rd. The women stand at 5-2 for the season and are also coming off of a first-place finish at the Wooster Invitational.
Saturday's meet will be the final home dual meet of the season for the Spartans.
The Ohio Northern men will enter the meet with a 4-3 record, while the women stand at 3-4. Both will be in action at Baldwin Wallace on Friday night, prior to traveling to CWRU on Saturday. Last season, the CWRU men defeated the Polar Bears 180.5-113.5, while the Spartan women earned a 187-113 victory.
Hillsdale will enter Saturday's action with an overall record of 5-6-1. Last season, the Spartan women tied the Chargers 144-144.
