Five members of the Case Western Reserve University men's swimming and diving team will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina for the 2016 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference at the Greensboro Aquatic Center from Wednesday, March 16th through Saturday, March 19th.
Fans can follow all of the action from the meet with a live webcast at http://www.ncaa.com/liveschedule and live results at http://www.collegeswimming.com/results/53000/. Preliminaries are slated to start each day at 10:00 a.m., with finals beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The top-16 finishers during the morning preliminaries will advance to the finals in the evening, with the top-eight claiming All-America honors, and finishers eight through 16 earning All-America honorable mention certificates.
The Spartans will be sending five men to this year's meet, including sophomore Drew Hamilton, junior Andrew Henning, sophomore Oliver Hudgins and senior Aaron Tam to compete in the swimming portion of the meet, and senior Connor Farrell to compete in the two men's diving events.
Last year, Hamilton claimed an all-America honorable mention in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a 15th-place finish, and teamed with Hudgins, Tam, and former Spartan Eric Haufler to finish 14th in the 800-yard freestyle relay, earning an honorable mention certificate in the event. Case Western Reserve finished in 49th place at the 2015 NCAA Championships.
Two Spartans will be in action on the first day of the meet, with Hamilton scheduled to compete in the 500-yard freestyle (seeded 16th with a time of 4:31.18) and Farrell slated to take part in the three-meter dive.
On Thursday, CWRU's four swimmers will compete in both the 200-yard freestyle relay (seeded 25th with a time of 1:24.44) and the 400-yard medley relay (seeded 24th with a time of 3:25.82), while Hamilton will compete individually in the 400-yard individual medley (seeded 12th with a time of 3:59.53) and Hudgins will be in action in the 200-yard freestyle (seeded 22nd with a mark of 1:40.11).
Competitors on Friday for Case Western Reserve include Tam in the 200-yard butterfly (seeded 28th with a time of 1:51.89), Farrell in the one-meter dive, and the 800-yard freestyle relay team (seeded sixth with a time of 6:42.65).
Action will wrap-up on Saturday, with Hamilton taking part in the 1,650-yard freestyle (seeded 21st with a time of 16:40.19), Hudgins swimming in the 200-yard backstroke (seeded 14th with a mark of 1:50.00), and the 400-yard freestyle relay (seeded 21st with a time of 3:03.87).
