  • Spartan Men Earn CSCAA Team Scholar All-America Award; Seven Individuals Honored

    CHICAGO – Led by a first-team Scholar All-American in 2014 graduate Sean Nickley (Springfield, Va./West Springfield), Case Western Reserve University men's swimming & diving has earned the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Team Scholar All-America Award for the championship semester of the 2013-14 season. In addition to Nickley, six Spartans were named CSCAA Scholar All-America Honorable Mention.

On Monday, fellow University Athletic Association institution, the University of Rochester, named Wylam the new head coach of its swim program.

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – For the fourth season in a row, the Case Western Reserve University men’s swimming & diving team has earned the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team Award for the first semester. The Spartans tied for 11th in Division III with a fall team grade point average of 3.39.

    CHICAGO – Sophomore Aaron Tam (Doral, Fla./Ronald Reagan Doral Senior) broke the school record in the 200-yard freestyle, and the Case Western Reserve University men’s swimmers placed second of 10 teams at the Midwest Invitational on Friday and Saturday, February 21-22 at Myers-McLoraine Pool.

    CLEVELAND – Due to inclement weather in Atlanta and continued travel challenges for schools in the University Athletic Association, Case Western Reserve University will now host a satellite UAA Swimming & Diving Championship on Saturday and Sunday, February 15-16, at Veale Natatorium.

    Due to inclement weather in the Atlanta area, the UAA Championships have been changed to a two-day meet on Friday and Saturday. Swimming preliminaries will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday and Saturday, with diving preliminaries following at 11:45 AM. Finals for both swimming and diving will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday and Saturday.

    PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Eighty-six Case Western Reserve University student-athletes were named to the 2013-14 University Athletic Association Winter All-Academic Team. Within the UAA, All-Academic recognition is awarded to student-athletes who have completed at least one full year of college study and who carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30.

    CLEVELAND – On November 12, the Case Western Reserve University swimming & diving teams joined thousands of athletes across the country in support of the Ted Mullin “Leave it in the Pool” Hour of Power Relay. Over the first seven years of this event, participants raised over $410,000 to support research at the University of Chicago into the causes and treatment of sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer, in young people.
