The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team dropped a road match against the sixth-ranked University of Chicago, 1-0, on Friday evening at Stagg Field in Chicago, Illinois.

The drop brings the Spartans to 6-6-4 overall 0-3-2 in the University Athletic Association, while the Maroons improve to 9-1-5, and 5-0-0 in the conference.

In the first half, the Spartans outshot the Maroons 9-3. CWRU senior midfielder Garrett Winter just missed putting the Spartans on the board in the 17th minute when he laced a shot that hit the near-side post.

Despite the advantage in shots for the Spartans in first half, Chicago claimed the 1-0 lead at the 30:01 mark when Scott Lich found the back of the net after a scrum in front of the goal.

CWRU would continue to fight hard in the second half as junior forward Seldon Magruder and senior forward Zachary Senft combined to total three shots, including a shot by Senft that went wide left at the 79:44 mark.

In net, first-year Jackson Kallen made four saves as he fell to 3-4-2 on the season.
