CWRU Men’s Soccer Set to Play at #6 Chicago and Wash U.

The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team is set to play the sixth-ranked University of Chicago on Friday, November 1st at 7:00 p.m. ET in Chicago, Illinois and Washington (Mo.) University on Sunday, November 3rd at 2:30 p.m. ET in St. Louis, Missouri for a weekend of University Athletic Association games.

CWRU Spartans (6-5-4, 0-2-2 UAA)

The Spartans recorded a 4-1 victory, scoring a pair of goals in each half, against non-conference opponent Westminster (Pa.) College on Monday evening. First-year Matt Vatne, junior Seldon Magruder, first-year Adrian Harkness and sophomore Ethan MacGillivray each notched a goal during the game.

Magruder currently leads the team with 13 points on six goals and one assist. Senior Zachary Senft ranks second on the squad with nine points on three goals and three assists, while, junior Connor Weber has totaled five points on one goal and three assists. First-year goalkeeper Jackson Kallen has seen the majority of minutes in net this season, as he has posted a 3-3-2 record in over 841 minutes of action.

#6 Chicago Maroons (8-1-5, 4-0-0 UAA)

Sophomore Vicente Mateus leads the Maroons with 10 points on three goals and four assists. Sophomore Sahil Modi has tallied a team-best four goals and added one assist for nine points, while junior Bryce Milington and freshman Kameron Bloye have each totaled eight points on the season. Starting all 14 matches, junior goalkeeper Aaron Katsimpalis has allowed just nine goals in over 1,389 minutes.

Last year, the Spartans picked up a statement win over Chicago after defeating the then top-ranked Maroons 2-1. Senft and senior Garrett Winter accounted for CWRU's goals during the game.

Washington Bears (6-6-1, 1-3-0 UAA)

The Bears lost a non-conference match against UW-Platteville last Sunday 2-1 and will host Carnegie Mellon University on Friday, before welcoming the Spartans to St. Louis on Sunday.

Leading WashU with 10 points on four goals and two assists is sophomore Nolan Wolf. Junior Will Sproule is right behind with three goals for six points, and freshman Julian Gancman has added two goals and one assist for five points. Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Martin has seen the majority of starts in net this season, as he has allowed seven goals in 754 minutes.

A lone Spartan goal gave CWRU the 1-0 victory over the Bears last season.

Junior Seldon Magruder currently ranks tied for first among all University Athletic Association players in goals (6) and points (13)…Senior Zachary Senft ranks second in the UAA with 51 shots, while Magruder is third with 46 shots…The Spartans have totaled 243 shots and 107 shots on goal this season…CWRU has held opponents to averages of just 5.3 shots on goal per game, and 13.9 shots per contest.
