CWRU Spartans (4-2-2)

On Wednesday, a late goal by junior forward Seldon Magruder helped the Spartans cut into a two-goal deficit, but CWRU ultimately could not complete the comeback attempt in a 2-1 loss to fifth-ranked John Carroll. The goal was 16th of Magruder's career, leaving him one shy of cracking the top-10 goal scores in the program's history.

Senior forward Zachary Senft scored a pair of goals on Saturday night, including the game-winning 'golden goal' with 3:28 remaining in the second and final overtime period, to lead the Spartans to a 2-1 win over Adrian College. Senft finished the game with a team-high five shots, including four on goal.

Marietta Pioneers (3-4-0)

The Pioneers went 1-1 this past week with a loss to Kenyon College and a win against Washington & Jefferson College. Against Kenyon, Marietta fell short against the Pioneers by a final score of 2-0 on Wednesday night.

On Saturday against W&J, a pair of goals by sophomore Gavin Long sparked a 3-0 win for Marietta. The Pioneers defense allowed only one shot on goal all game, and helped goalie Trevor Dykstra pitch a shutout.

Last season, CWRU earned a 3-0 shutout victory over Marietta in the season opener. Three different Spartans scored a goal and the defense allowed only seven shots, including just three on goal.

Otterbein Cardinals (5-2-0)

The Cardinals went 2-0 this past week with wins against Ohio Wesleyan and 22nd-ranked Brockport. Otterbein defeated Ohio Wesleyan 1-0 on Wednesday as freshman Will Isaac used a nice move to slip past the OWU keeper at the 48:45 mark to score the lone goal of the match. The Cardinals then posted their third straight shutout on Saturday as they took down Brockport 1-0 off a goal from Gabe Sharrock at the 81:16 mark.

Otterbein will play Denison University on Wednesday, before they travel to Cleveland to face the Spartans on Saturday afternoon. This will be the first meeting between the two schools during the Coach Bianco era.
