Winter Named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Division III Men’s Soccer Team

Case Western Reserve University junior midfielder Garrett Winter has been named to the Academic All-District Division III Men's Soccer First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), based on his outstanding achievements both on the pitch and in the classroom over his career as a Spartan.

By virtue of being named to the Academic All-District First Team, Winter will be placed on the ballot for the Academic All-America team, with first-, second-, and third teams to be announced on Tuesday, December 4th.

This is the first career Academic All-District honor for Winter.

Winter has had a breakout season during his junior campaign. He currently ranks tied for first on the team with eight goals and has tallied three assists for the second-most points on the team this season (19). Winter has scored three game-winning goals in 2018, including the game-winner on a penalty kick to defeat the then top-ranked University of Chicago on October 14th.

Winter carries a 3.94 cumulative grade point average as an Economics major at CWRU. He has received UAA All-Academic honors two times over his career, and has been selected as an All-UAA honorable mention during his career.

Voting for the Academic All-District team is conducted by members of CoSIDA. Case Western Reserve is a part of District 7, which includes Division III student-athletes from colleges in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
