The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 contest to the University of Rochester on Friday evening at DiSanto Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Spartans are now 5-9-2 overall and 1-4-0 in the University Athletic Association, while the Yellowjackets improve to 11-2-2 overall and 4-1-0 in the UAA.
CWRU's best opportunity to score came early in the first half, when freshman midfielder Connor Weber recovered a rebound off of a shot at the 32:47 mark and laced the ball from 10 yards out that was tipped away by the Rochester goalkeeper.
The Yellowjackets opened the scoring late in the first half, when junior Alec Hay received a cross from sophomore Josh Cooley and headed it into the goal for his first goal of the season. Rochester added to its lead when senior Geoffrey Rouin scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Cristian Baltier at the 70:31 mark.
Rochester held an advantage in shots (11-8) and corner kicks (8-4).
In net, senior goalkeeper Calvin Boyle made two saves to run his season total to 79.
CWRU will return to action on Sunday, October 29th at 11:00 a.m., hosting Emory University at DiSanto Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
