The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team dropped a road match against the 13th-ranked University of Chicago in overtime, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Stagg Field in Chicago, Illinois.
The drop brings the Spartans to 5-7-2 overall and 1-3-0 in the University Athletic Association, while the Maroons improve to 13-1-0, and 3-1-0 in the conference.
CWRU got on the board first when freshman forward Seldon Magruder scored his fifth goal of the season in the 78th minute of play.
Chicago responded back in the 85th minute when Max Lopez scored his 14th goal of the season via an assist from Dayo Adeosun.
The score remained 1-1 through the remainder of regulation. In the 97th minute of play, Chicago's Andre Abedian scored the game-winner off an assist from Matthew Koh.
For the match, the Maroons led in shots (23-10), but the Spartans held the advantage in corner kicks (4-3).
Senior goalkeeper Calvin Boyle made four saves for the Spartans.
Case Western Reserve will have a week break from conference play, returning to action next Sunday, October 22nd against 12th-ranked North Park University. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start at DiSanto Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
