Freshman forward Seldon Magruder of the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team has been named the University Athletic Association men's soccer offensive athlete of the week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Magruder recorded the first multiple-goal game of his career, helping the Spartans top New York University 5-1 in Saturday's conference match. He scored the game-winning goal in the first half when freshman Connor Weber chipped a ball into the box where senior Jack Rademacher deflected the pass to Magruder who struck the ball past the NYU keeper in the 32nd minute. Magruder recorded his second goal of the game to close out the Spartan scoring when he received a thru ball from sophomore Brian Woo and found the back of the net to secure the Spartan victory.
Magruder's two goals of the week give him a 2017 season total of four goals, which ranks tied for first on the team.
The Case Western Reserve men's soccer team will continue UAA play with road matches on Friday, October 13th against Washington (Mo.) University at 6:00 p.m. ET and a Sunday afternoon game at 12:00 p.m. ET against the first-ranked University of Chicago.
