GREENSBURG, Pa. – Four different players scored as the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team earned its first victory under first-year Head Coach Brandon Bianco by a score of 4-0 at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg on Saturday afternoon at Ridilla Field.
The Spartans improve to 1-0-2 overall and will play on the road again at cross-town rival Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Junior midfielder Ryan Finstad (Rochester, Mich./Rochester Stoney Creek) opened the scoring at the 32:41 mark when he collected a pass from freshman midfielder Jacob Grindel (Milwaukee, Wis./Marquette University) and beat the Pitt-Greensburg (0-4) goalkeeper for his first career goal.
The match stayed close until the 65th minute when sophomore midfielder Slater Jameson (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) tallied his second goal of the season. The Spartans then blew the match open as sophomore forward Logan Glosser (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) and freshman midfielder Brandon White (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) each scored their initial goals of 2013 at 71:59 and 76:42, respectively.
Freshman goalkeeper Ari Lewis (Jericho, N.Y./Jericho) stayed undefeated on the season but did not need a save in 72 minutes of action. Freshman Frank Candau (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) played the final 18 minutes.
Overall, Case Western Reserve dominated statistically, outshooting Pitt-Greensburg by a tally of 23-2 (12-0 on goal).
