CWRU Receives NABC Team Academic Excellence Award; Six Spartans Named to Honors Court

The Case Western Reserve University men's basketball team received the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2019-20 Team Academic Excellence Award, while six individual Spartans were named to the NABC Honors Court, as the organization announced its academic award winners on Wednesday afternoon.

Individual Spartan players named to the NABC Honors Court included senior guard Monty Khela, senior guard Sam Hansen, senior forward Michael Hollis, junior guard Antonio Ionadi, junior guard Ignas Masiulionis and junior guard Michael Volkening.

Honors Court selectees must be an academic junior or senior, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher, have matriculated at least one year at their current institution, and be a member of an NCAA Division I, II or III, or NAIA Division I or III institution with a full-time NABC member coach.

The Team Academic Excellence Award is presented to programs with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The CWRU men's basketball team recorded a 3.661 cumulative grade point average at the end of the spring semester.

The Spartans finished the 2019-20 campaign with a 13-12 overall record, including a 6-8 mark in University Athletic Association games.
