After starting the 2019-20 season by winning the Bill Sudeck Tournament last weekend with two wins at home, the Case Western Reserve University men's basketball team will hit the road for three straight games. First up for the Spartans on the road swing will be a trip to Westerville, Ohio to take on Otterbein University at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13.

The Spartans won both of their games in the Bill Sudeck Tournament this past weekend, defeating Central 96-94 in the semifinals and Centre 79-75 in the championship game to start the 2019-20 season. Junior guard Antonio Ionadi leads the Spartans offense with 15.0 points per game, including a 20-point effort against Centre, and is making 50% of his shots. Sophomore forward Ryan Newton recorded his first career double-double against Centre and was named to the All-Tournament Team. A welcome addition to the squad has been first-year forward Cole Frilling, who is second on the team with 7.0 rebounds per game, and notched a double-double of his own with 12 points and 11 rebounds in his collegiate debut against Central.
As a team, CWRU is averaging 87.5 points per game and shooting 43.7% from the field, including 38.1% from beyond the arc.
Otterbein began the season with a home game against Franklin on Saturday afternoon, emerging victorious 86-84. Sophomore forward Reid Black had 22 points and five rebounds, and junior guard Justin Carter added 17 points on six-for-10 shooting.
Last season, the Cardinals finished with a 6-19 record, including a 3-4 mark in non-conference play. Carter is the team's top returning scorer after averaging 12.9 points per game in the 2018-19 campaign. Senior guard Nick Koontz is the Cardinals' top returning rebounder, and he pulled down eight boards in the game against Franklin.
The Spartans and Cardinals have faced off just one time before, with Case Western Reserve defeating Otterbein 91-83 at home during the 2015-16 season.
