Duckett Named UAA Athlete of the Week

Case Western Reserve University senior forward T.J. Duckett was selected as the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for men's basketball, after averaging 17.5 points and 12.5 rebounds to lead the Spartans to a pair of victories last week.

Duckett shot 15-of-21 (71.4%) from the floor and five-of-eight (62.5%) from the free throw line over the two contests, adding a team-high three blocks with an assist and a steal.  He helped the Spartans open conference play with a dominating 94-63 win over Carnegie Mellon on Saturday, leading all CWRU players with 15 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, despite playing just 20 minutes.  He shot six-of-seven from the floor and three-of-three from the line during the game.  Earlier in the week, Duckett led all players with 20 points and 16 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season in a 63-60 win at Oberlin College, shooting nine-of-14 from the floor and adding a block and a steal.

For the year, Duckett ranks second in the conference in both rebounds per game (10.8) and shooting percentage (60.5%), and has paced all CWRU players with 14.5 points per game.

This was the second UAA Athlete of the Week honor of Duckett's career, and his first of the season.

The Spartans have won four-straight games to improve to 7-5 overall for the campaign.  Case Western Reserve will be back in action next weekend, traveling to face the University of Rochester on Friday and Emory University on Sunday.
