Day four of our trip started a little differently than our previous mornings. No alarms were set and we had nowhere to be until 2:00 p.m. We all woke up naturally to a bright Belizian sun and went to have breakfast right on the beach at the resort. From there it was all relaxation by the pool and in the hot tub. We didn't leave the pool the whole morning.
We walked a little ways down the beach and got into a long speed boat for a snorkeling experience. We drove for about 20 minutes across a perfectly blue ocean until we got to the reef.
After getting on masks and fins we dove in and saw a different world below the sea. There were fish of every color and size darting around us. We saw everything from stingrays to sea turtles. It was an amazing experience and we were just getting started.
After about an hour in the water we got back in the boat and drove for about 10 minutes to Shark Ray Alley. We got in the water and immediate saw seven or eight 12-foot long nurse sharks and stingrays. Our tour leaders Buddha, Sherry, and Scott tossed food into the water in order to attract even more sharks. It was a feeding frenzy, and were only 10 feet away. Darting around the sharks were big fish all within arms length of us. We stayed in the water for about 20 minutes watching the frenzy in awe.
Once we ran out of food for the Sharks we got back in the boat and drove back to our resort. To finish the day we took golf carts into the city of San Pedro for dinner. It was the first day of trip where it was all about relaxation, and we all took advantage.
