Over the next few weeks, athletics.case.edu will be digging into our archives to highlight some of the great games and events for the Spartans over the past few years.
For today's game, we go back to the CWRU football team's 26-22 win at Westminster College on November 5, 2016. Trailing 22-3 with 3:22 remaining in the third quarter, the Spartans scored the final 23 points in the game, including a go-ahead touchdown from junior running back Jacob Burke on a fourth-down run on the goal line, giving CWRU a four-point lead with 4:25 remaining. Needing a touchdown, Westminster would drive down the field, reaching the Spartans' three yard line. However, on first and goal, junior linebacker Justin McMahon recovered a fumble by Westminster running back Dom McKinley, securing the win for the Spartans.
