Morgan Named UAA Athlete of the Week

CWRU Wide Receiver Colt Morgan

Case Western Reserve University junior wide receiver Colt Morgan was named the University Athletic Association Offensive Athlete of the Week for football, after helping lead the no. 21/17 Spartans' offense in a 30-23 win over Geneva College at DiSanto Field on Saturday.

Morgan finished the game with 10 catches for 111 yards, and caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Drew Saxton with 2:34 remaining in the first quarter.  The score gave the Spartans a 14-7 lead, and the team would hold the advantage for the remainder of the game.  The 10 receptions were a season-high for Morgan, and it marked his fifth 100-yard receiving game of the year and his fourth in the last five games.

He has totaled 49 catches for 693 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, and is now just two touchdowns away from matching the program's career record of 31.  This was his first UAA Athlete of the Week honor this season and the third of his career.

Case Western Reserve improved to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the PAC following Saturday's victory.
