Case Western Reserve University junior wide receiver Colt Morgan was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while junior linebacker Michael Amadio was selected as the University Athletic Association Special Teams Athlete of the Week, after the duo helped lead the Spartans to a 37-6 win over the University of Rochester during the team's opening week game.
Morgan finished the game with nine catches for 146 yards, marking the fifth 100-yard game of his collegiate career. His first touchdown of the day was a nine-yard grab with 3:29 remaining in the first quarter, extending CWRU's lead to 21-0. He added a second score on a 19-yard catch with 4:11 left in the opening half, pushing the Spartans' advantage to 28-0. Morgan capped off CWRU's scoring with his third touchdown of the game, a six-yard scoring grab with 7:43 remaining in the game. It was the fifth multiple-touchdown game of his career, and he moved into a tie for fifth-place in school history with 22 career touchdown catches.
It marked the second career PAC Player of the Week honor for Morgan, who was selected to the D3football.com Preseason All-America Third Team.
Amadio scored his first career touchdown on Saturday, recovering a blocked punt and returning it 12 yards for a touchdown with 8:42 left in the first quarter, helping the Spartans expand their lead to 14-0 at the time. He finished the game with three total tackles, including one on special teams.
This was his first career conference athlete of the week honor.
Case Western Reserve, now 1-0 on the year, will be on its bye this week, before returning to action with its home opener on Saturday, September 21st at 7:00 p.m. against Grove City College.
