The Case Western Reserve University football team was picked to finish second in the Presidents' Athletic Conference in a poll of the league's coaches and sports information directors, along with local media, conducted at the PAC Football Media Day on Tuesday afternoon at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
The Spartans are coming off an 8-2 campaign in 2018, which including a 7-2 mark in PAC games, good for a tie for second place in the conference. CWRU is slated to return 18 starters from last year's team, including eight all-conference honorees, headlined by All-American and PAC Defensive Player of the Year Cameron Brown, PAC Newcomer of the Year and All-Region Third Team selection Drew Saxton, and All-Region Second Team wide receiver Colt Morgan.
This year's edition of the Spartans received 277 points in the poll and six of the 31 first place votes. Washington & Jefferson was picked to finish first in the PAC with 298 points and 23 first place votes, while Westminster also received a pair of first place votes, and was third with 241 points. Following the top three in the poll were Grove City (219), Carnegie Mellon (194), Bethany (138), Waynesburg (118), Geneva (98), Saint Vincent (77) and Thiel (45).
This was the second-straight season that the Spartans have been picked to finish second in the PAC, matching their highest finish in the conference's preseason poll.

CWRU will open its 2019 season on Saturday, September 7th at 7:00 p.m. on the road at the University of Rochester. The Spartans' will kick off their home slate on Saturday, September 21st at 7:00 p.m. against Grove City.
