The Case Western Reserve University football team will enter the 2019 campaign ranked 24th in the Lindy's Sports NCAA Division III Top-25 in the magazine's 2019 College National Football Preview.
The Spartans went 8-2 in 2018, and will be returning seven starters on the offensive side of the ball and nine defensive starters from last year's squad. Among the team's top returners are senior defensive end Cameron Brown, who earned AFCA All-America Second Team honors in 2018 and is the reigning PAC Defensive Player of the Year, junior wide receiver Colt Morgan, an All-South Region Second Team honoree, and sophomore quarterback Drew Saxton, who was an All-South Region Third Team pick and the UAA Offensive Player of the Year as a freshman.
Other slated returners for the Spartans who earned All-PAC honors last year include sophomore kicker Robertson Albrecht (First Team), senior safety Patrick Crossey (First Team), senior linebacker Isaac Withrow (Second Team), senior cornerback Kevin Chrissis (Honorable Mention), and senior center Thomas Strayer (Honorable Mention).
The Spartans will kick-off their 2019 season on Saturday, September 7th at the University of Rochester in a non-conference game. CWRU will open its home schedule on Saturday, September 21st against Grove City at DiSanto Field.
