Morgan Named UAA Athlete of the Week

Case Western Reserve University sophomore wide receiver Colt Morgan was named the University Athletic Association Offensive Athlete of the Week, following his career day during the 21st-ranked Spartans' 44-36 loss at 11th-ranked Washington and Jefferson College on Saturday.

Morgan recorded career-highs with 13 receptions and 190 yards, while matching his own program-record with four touchdowns.  He caught a touchdown pass in each quarter of the game, starting with a 25-yard catch with 9:24 to play in the opening period, giving CWRU a 7-0 lead.  A six-yard touchdown catch five seconds into the second quarter put CWRU ahead 14-7 at the time.  In the second half, he registered scoring catches of 37 yards (his longest reception of the day) with 6:02 to play in the third quarter and four yards with 8:42 to play in the game.

For the year, Morgan leads the team with 37 receptions and 477 yards, and is ranked third in Division III with 11 receiving touchdowns (two shy of the program's single-season record).  This is his first career conference athlete of the week honor.

The Spartans fell to 4-1 on the year and to 3-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference following the loss on Saturday.  Case Western Reserve will return home to host their annual homecoming game on Saturday, October 13th against Saint Vincent College at 1:00 p.m.
