Blair, Cuda & Burke Garner All-South Region Honors

Case Western Reserve University senior center Gage Blair, senior quarterback Rob Cuda and senior running back Jacob Burke were each selected to the All-South Region Team.  Blair received Second Team honors, while Cuda and Burke were each named to the Third Team.

Blair and Cuda became the sixth and seventh players in program history to claim multiple all-region honors from over a career.  Blair was a third team selection at center last season, while Cuda claimed third team honors as a sophomore in 2015.  This is the first career all-region honor for Burke, who is the first running back in program history to receive the recognition from  The organization began selecting all-region teams in 2005.

Blair anchored the CWRU offensive line, playing and starting nine games during the season.  Earlier in the year, he became the 10th four-time All-University Athletic Association selection in program history, earning a spot on the first team for the second-straight year.  He also claimed his third-straight All-Presidents' Athletic Conference first team honor in 2017.

Cuda was named the Offensive Player of the Year for both the PAC and the UAA in 2017, completing 55.5% of his passes during the season for 2,830 yards with 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions.  He added 506 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground during the campaign.  Cuda was selected as the PAC Athlete of the Week on October 16th, and the UAA Athlete of the Week on October 2nd and October 16th.

Burke was an All-PAC and an All-UAA First Team selection during his senior campaign.  His 1,110 rushing yards were the fourth-most in a single season in CWRU history, while his 17 rushing touchdowns ranked second among Spartan players all-time.  Burke was selected as the PAC Athlete of the Week on November 6th, and was a three-time UAA Player of the Week honoree (September 18th, October 30th and November 6th).

The teams, selected in balloting by South Region sports information directors and staff, were chosen from 240 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 75 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 15, in's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLV.

The Spartans finished the 2017 season with an 11-1 overall record, including a 10-0 mark during the regular season, the fifth perfect regular season in program history.  The Spartans claimed their first Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship, sharing the title with Washington and Jefferson, and clinched their seventh University Athletic Association title outright, while advancing to the second round of the NCAA Championships for the second time in program history.
