After leading the team to a 41-10 win over Westminster College, Case Western Reserve University senior running back Jacob Burke was named both the Presidents' Athletic Conference and University Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week.
Burke carried the ball 26 times for 160 yards and three touchdowns against the Titans, who entered the game with the second-best rushing defense in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. He scored all three of his touchdowns in the first half, getting CWRU on the board with a seven-yard scoring run with 10:49 left in the first quarter, extending the lead to 14-0 with a 28-yard run with 8:08 remaining in the quarter, and capping off a 71-yard drive with a two-yard TD run with 14:32 left in the second quarter. It was his fourth 100-yard rushing effort of the season and his fifth multiple touchdown game, as he raised his season totals to 908 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground. In addition, he surpassed the 2,000-career rushing yard milestone in the game, and moved into second place in program history with 33 career rushing touchdowns.
This was the third UAA Athlete of the Week honor of the season for Burke and the fifth of his career as a Spartan, while the PAC honor was the first of his career.
The Spartans, who moved up to 14th in the D3football.com Top-25 following the game, improved to 9-0 and 7-0 in the PAC and can clinch both the PAC and UAA Championships with a win against Carnegie Mellon in the 32nd-Annual Academic Bowl on November 11th.
