Cuda Named PAC & UAA Player of the Week; Nominated for HERO of the Week

Case Western Reserve University senior quarterback Rob Cuda was named the Offensive Player of the Week for both the Presidents' Athletic Conference and the University Athletic Association after leading the 17th-ranked Spartans to a 63-28 win at Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

In addition, Cuda was nominated for D3 Football HERO of the Week.  Fans can vote for Cuda to win the award at

Cuda threw for five touchdowns and ran for a sixth, completing 17-of-22 passes (77.3%) for 343 yards and adding 25 rushing yards.  His numbers came despite not taking a snap in the second half of the game, leaving the game after 42 offensive plays with the Spartans leading by 35 points.  He led the team to touchdowns on all seven drives he participated in, including scoring throws of 12 yards to Giuseppe Orsini, 60 yards to Zech Medved, 68 yards to Zak Hurd, five yards to Colt Morgan and 10 yards to Chase Witte.  He also ran for a five-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

The 300-yard passing effort was his third of the season and seventh of his career, and just 14 yards shy of his career high.  Cuda has completed 62.2% of his passes this season for 1,822 yards and 20 touchdowns with just three interceptions, while rushing for an additional 156 yards and three scores.  He has thrown TDs to 11 different Spartan players during the campaign.

This marked the seventh UAA Athlete of the Week honor of Cuda's career, and his second of the season.  He has now been named the PAC Player of the Week on four occasions, with the previous three honors coming during his sophomore campaign in 2015.

Case Western Reserve remained perfect on the season with a 6-0 overall record, and maintained a half-a-game lead in the PAC standings with a 5-0 conference mark, following the team's win over Thiel on Saturday.  The Spartans will travel to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 21st for a 7:00 p.m. game against Geneva College (3-3, 2-2 PAC).
