Case Western Reserve University junior defensive tackle Ian Henderson was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, after helping to lead the Spartans to a 42-10 win over Grove City College on Saturday at DiSanto Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
Henderson led the team in tackles on Saturday with eight (two solo, six assisted), while also recording a sack, 1.5 tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles. He added a quarterback hurry, and forced a strip sack in the third quarter of the game. For the season, Henderson has 11 tackles (tied for third on the team) and his 1.0 forced fumbles per game lead the PAC and are fifth among all Division III players.
Earlier in the week, Henderson was also named both the Presidents' Athletic Conference and the University Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week for his performance. This marks the 14th time in program history that a CWRU player has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, while Henderson is the first Spartan defensive tackle to receive the honor.
The Spartans improved to 2-0 on the year with Saturday's win, including a 1-0 mark in PAC games. CWRU will be back in action under the lights at DiSanto Field on Saturday, September 23rd against Waynesburg University, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
