Doty to Receive Postgraduate Scholarship from the NE Ohio Chapter of the NFF

Case Western Reserve University senior defensive lineman Tyler Doty was selected as a recipient of a $2,000 Postgraduate Scholarship Award from the Northeastern Ohio Chapter of the National Football Foundation, based on his academic and athletic achievements during his time as a Spartan.

By virtue of winning the award, Tyler will be recognized at the chapter's 29th-Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards on March 7th.

Doty, who has a 3.624 cumulative grade point average as a Biology major and Pre-Med student, is a three time Academic All-UAA honoree and received a spot on the PAC Fall Academic Honor roll this past season.  Over his four year career as a Spartan, he recorded 55 tackles over 24 games played, including three sacks and eight total tackles for a loss.  Doty also recorded the first interception of his career this past season, during the team's victory over Grove City.

Doty also served as a team captain during the season, leading the Spartans to a 9-1 overall record, the team's best mark since the 2011 campaign.  The Spartans also won a share of the 2016 University Athletic Association Championship with a 2-1 ledger, and recorded a second-place finish in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 7-1 record, the team's best finish since rejoining the league as a football affiliate member in 2014.
