2016 PAC Media Day Coverage; Spartans Picked to Finish Third in Conference

The Case Western Reserve University football team was picked to finish third in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, according to the league's preseason poll, released on Wednesday afternoon as a part of the PAC Football Media Day at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

The Spartans, who received votes in the D3football.com preseason national poll, totaled four first place votes (the second-most among all PAC schools) and 292 points in the PAC Preseason poll.  It marked the most first-place votes and the highest finish in the PAC Preseason Poll during Case Western Reserve's three years as a football affiliate member of the conference.

Coming in ahead of CWRU in the poll were reigning PAC Champion Thomas More College in first, followed by Washington and Jefferson College in second.  Rounding out the top-five were Westminster College in fourth and Carnegie Mellon University in fifth.  The full poll, which was voted on by a combination of 33 coaches, sports information directors, and media members at Wednesday's event, is below:

Representing the Spartans at PAC Football Media Day were 13th-year Head Coach Greg Debeljak and senior tight end Zech Medved.  Video of their press conference will be posted to athletics.case.edu over the next few days.

The Spartans finished the 2015 season with a 7-3 overall record, including a 6-2 mark in PAC games, and a 1-2 University Athletic Association record.  Case Western Reserve will open its 2016 season on Saturday, September 3rd against the University of Chicago at DiSanto Field in Cleveland.
