    CLEVELAND – The Spartan Club, in conjunction with Case Western Reserve University Athletics, has announced its Hall of Fame induction class of 2014. Six former student-athletes will join the 330 members previously enshrined since the club’s inception in 1975. The new members will be enshrined at the annual Spartan Club banquet on Friday, April 25.

    PITTSBURGH – Hometown kid and senior quarterback Erik Olson (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns, including 136 yards and two scores to freshman wide receiver John Mangelluzzi (Gates Mill, Ohio/Mayfield), as the Case Western Reserve University football team won the 28th Annual Academic Bowl, 35-32, at rival Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday night at Gesling Stadium.

    CLEVELAND – Case Western Reserve University senior fullback Steven Magister (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII Football First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Magister will now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® ballot.

The Spartans (4-3, 1-0 UAA) have won three in a row, including a 16-3 home victory versus the University of Chicago last Saturday, Nov. 2. The Bears (6-2, 1-0 UAA) enter play with a five-game win streak following a last-second, 9-7 triumph at Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.).
