Amongst those named to the game’s North Roster are Case Western Reserve University linebacker Jacob Adams (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton), defensive tackle Dale English (Middleburg Heights, Ohio/Holy Name) and guard Tony Opperman (Pickerington, Ohio/St. Charles Preparatory).

A league-high 11 Spartans were tabbed first-team, including seven from the defense, and Head Coach Greg Debeljak and his staff were named the league’s Coaching Staff of the Year.

    PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Sophomore running back Kenny Riordan (Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond-Burton) rushed for a career-high 108 yards with two touchdowns as the Case Western Reserve University football team defeated host Carnegie Mellon University in the 26th Annual Academic Bowl on Saturday at Gesling Stadium. The Spartans’ eighth-straight victory clinches a fourth University Athletic Association Championship in five seasons and gives the team a shot at an at-large bid to the NCAA Playoffs.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio – Case Western Reserve University senior defensive end Richard Doolin (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) has been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District VII Football Team announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). A 2010 first-team Academic All-American, Doolin earns first-team Academic All-District honors for the second-consecutive season and advances to the Academic All-America ballot.

    The Case Western Reserve University football team closes out the 2011 regular season with the University Athletic Association Championship and a possible NCAA Playoff berth on the line versus rival Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.) in the 26th Annual Academic Bowl on Saturday, November 12 at Gesling Stadium in Pittsburgh. The Spartans (8-1, 2-0 UAA) have won seven-straight and have already clinched at least a share of the UAA Title with their 16-6 victory at Washington University-St. Louis. A win would give Case outright possession of a fourth UAA Title in five seasons. Carnegie Mellon, also in contention for a split UAA Championship, won the 500th game in program history by a score of 28-13 at the University of Chicago (Ill.) last Saturday.

Within the UAA, All-Academic Recognition is awarded to student-athletes who have completed at least one full year of college study and who carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.300.
