UAA Names Levine Conference Pitcher of the Week

For the second time through three weeks this season, Case Western Reserve University sophomore pitcher Matt Levine was named the University Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, after leading the Spartans to a 9-0 win over Oglethorpe University on Sunday.

Levine needed just 74 pitches (52 strikes) to navigate through seven scoreless innings against the Stormy Petrels, facing the minimum through his first six innings on the mound.  He allowed just four hits in the game, while failing to walk a batter, and struck out three in the contest.

Levine improved to 1-0 on the season, while lowering his earned run average to 1.33.  This was his fourth career UAA Athlete of the Week honor.

The Spartans have won four-straight games, and stand at 4-3 overall on the season.  Case Western Reserve will be back in action on Tuesday, March 12th, opening play at the Spartan Southern Classic at Lexington County Stadium in Lexington, South Carolina with a doubleheader against Roger Williams University starting at 2:00 p.m.
