Kutschke Selected to D3baseball.com Team of the Week

Case Western Reserve University junior left-handed pitcher Scott Kutschke was named the relief pitcher on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week, following his performance during the Spartans' 11-4 win over Allegheny College at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.

Kutschke entered the game with two on and two outs in the first inning and the team trailing 2-0, and proceeded to induce an inning-ending groundout on his first pitch of the contest.  He then retired the next nine batters he faced in the game in order, picking up the victory in the opening contest of the doubleheader.  Kutschke finished the game with four strikeouts over 3.1 perfect innings of work.

Through two appearances this season, Kutschke has allowed just one hit and no walks through four innings, and stands at 1-0.  This was the second time over his career that he has been selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week, after previous earning the honor on May 9, 2017.

The Spartans have opened the season with a 2-3 overall record.  CWRU will begin its spring break trip this weekend with games at Oglethorpe University on Sunday, March 10th and Monday, March 11th.

The Spartans have earned the following weekly awards during the 2019 season:
