Levine Named UAA Pitcher of the Week

Case Western Reserve University sophomore Matt Levine was named the University Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, after his standout start against Spalding University on Sunday.

Levine allowed just one earned run over 8.1 innings of work in the team's 3-2 loss in 10 innings at Spalding.  The right-handed pitcher allowed just four hits and three walks, while striking out five batters and yielding just two total runs.  He pitched into the ninth inning, leaving the game with a 2-1 lead, and received a no-decision in the game.

This was the third career UAA Pitcher of the Week honor for Levine, who went 6-1 with a 3.18 ERA last season, earning a spot on the All-UAA Second Team.

The Spartans have opened their season with a 0-3 record.  CWRU will look to rebound this weekend at Washington & Jefferson on Saturday and at home against Allegheny on Sunday.
