TIFFIN, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University baseball team fell 15-4 in a single, nine-inning contest against No. 2 nationally-ranked Heidelberg University on Sunday, March 27 at Peaceful Valley. The Spartans have now lost four straight and dropped to 14-10 overall on the season.
Heidelberg jumped out to a 4-1 lead in game one and added another score in the second before Case narrowed the game to 5-3 in the sixth on an RBI single by freshman second baseman Andrew Frey (Mentor, OH/Mentor).
Junior Sam Alexander (Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams) also crossed the plate in the sixth on a dropped fly ball, but the Spartans wouldn't get any closer as Heidelberg answered with five run frames in the bottom of the sixth and seventh and pulled away for good.
