Following the Case Institute of Technology and Western Reserve University merger, the first Case Western Reserve Spartans baseball team took the field for the 1972 season. University Archives provides additional information on varsity sports at CIT and WRU prior to the merger, in addition to information on CWRU baseball prior to the 1985 season.
