Aaron Gunther Named CWRU Interim Head Athletic Trainer

Aaron Gunther has been named the Interim Head Athletic Trainer at Case Western Reserve University, bringing with him 12 years of experience at the position at the NCAA Division III level.

Gunther comes to Case Western Reserve after serving as the Head Athletic Trainer at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington for the previous seven years.  While there, he oversaw the daily operation of the athletic training department, while providing primary sports coverage for the football, swimming, baseball and crew teams.  Gunther also participated in various campus committees at Pacific Lutheran (including campus safety), working as the Emergency Building Coordinator, and serving as a member of the Student Life Assessment Team.

Prior to arriving at Pacific Lutheran, Gunther spent five years at the same position at Olivet College, where he managed medical coverage for the University's 19 varsity sports and seven junior varsity sports.  He also spent a year as the athletic trainer for the Kalamazoo Kings of independent baseball's Frontier League.

Gunther received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Western Michigan University in 2005, where he also worked as a student athletic trainer as an undergraduate.  He went on to earn his Masters of Education in Kinesiology from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2007, while also working as a graduate assistant trainer at the school, providing direct coverage for volleyball, wrestling and baseball.  Gunther is NATABOC Certified and a Licensed Athletic Trainer, and is an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED instructor.
