Case Western Reserve University junior Jacob Frisch, a 133-pounder on the wrestling team, and freshman Abbey Lawrence, a guard on the women’s basketball team, have been named the Spartan Club Athletes of the Week for their performances this past week.
Frisch paced the Spartans at the eighth-annual Waynesburg Invitational on Saturday. Competing in the 133-pound weight bracket, Frisch picked up a 9-7 decision over Alma's Chase Beecher and then earned a pin over Lake Erie's Jordan Brewster in 3:48. In the semifinal match against Apprentice's Trey Templeton, Frisch claimed a hard-fought 7-4 decision. However, Frisch fell to Apprentice's Kolin Johnson in the draws championship match. His performance notched him a second-place finish in the weight class and contributed 16.0 points towards the team total. Frisch has competed exclusively in the 133-pound weight class throughout the season, earning a 9-5 overall record with two pins and one technical fall.
