Fourteen Spartans Named to the UAA Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team

Fourteen Case Western Reserve University athletes were selected to the University Athletic Association Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team, which recognizes the top athletic and academic achievers in the conference during the 2015-16 academic year.

In order to be eligible for the UAA Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete team, student-athletes must earn first team All-Association honors and must carry a 3.50 or greater cumulative grade point average during that playing season.  Freshmen are not eligible for the award.

CWRU athletes earning the honor this year include sophomore Cody Calhoun (football), senior Matt Clark (men's basketball), senior Michelle Djohan (women's tennis), senior Bryan Erb (football), sophomore Drew Hamilton (men's swimming), junior Andrew Henning (men's swimming), sophomore Nithya Kanagasegar (women's tennis), senior Haley Kauffman (volleyball), senior Surya Khadilkar (women's tennis), senior CJ Krimbill (men's tennis), junior Nick Kwon (football), senior Kristen Ruckstuhl (track and field), senior Dayton Snyder (football) and senior Scott Suren (football).

Erb, Krimbill and Ruckstuhl each claimed the honor for the second time during their collegiate careers.  The 14 CWRU honorees were the most the Spartans have placed on the team since the honor was first created in 2009.

A total of 94 student-athletes across the conference received recognition.  To view the full list, go to http://uaasports.info/honors/16_Scholar-Athlete_Release.pdf.
