Spartan Women to Run at DIII National Championship Meet on Saturday in Iowa
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The No. 21-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's cross country team is set to compete at the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet on Saturday, November 20 at 12:00 p.m. (CT) at Max Cross Country Course in Waverly, Iowa.
All-American senior Justine Jeroski (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) discussed the upcoming race on the latest edition of Spartan Video Spotlight.
Currently ranked No. 23 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll, the Spartans have experienced tremendous success in 2010, winning the Bill Sudeck Classic, All-Ohio Championships and Inter-Regional Rumble and placing second at NCAA Pre-Regionals. Case also finished third at the 2010 University Athletic Association Championships and will be part of a five-team UAA contingent at the national meet.
The Spartans placed 15th at last year's championship meet with two All-American performances, including Jeroski's 30th-place finish. In addition to Jeroski, three other Spartans bring national meet experience to the pack, including junior Natalia Cabrera (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) and seniors Andrea Fischione (Export, PA/Franklin) and Cindy Spahn (Wildwood, MO/Ursuline).
Under head coach Kathy Lanese, the Spartan women will now be making a fifth consecutive trip to nationals. The team's highest finish of sixth place came during the 2007 season at St. Olaf College (MN). Jeroski competed as a freshman that season.
