Nelson Wittenmyer will begin his 24th season with Case Western Reserve volleyball in 2016 and 11th as associate head coach.
Wittenmyer served as assistant coach from 1993-98 before taking over as head coach from 1999-2005 following current Head Coach Karen Farrell’s departure. Since Farrell’s return in 2006, Wittenmyer has served as associate head coach and has been a member of a staff that has taken the Spartan volleyball program to new heights, including the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament win during the 2015 campaign.
Wittenmyer, also the head coach of the CWRU Men’s Club Team, was a member of the University Athletic Association Coaching Staff of the Year in both 1997 and 2010 as well as the North Coast Athletic Conference Staff of the Year in 1997 and 1998.
In addition to his involvement with CWRU volleyball, Wittenmyer currently serves as Vice Chairman of Institutional Relations & Development at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. There, he is responsible for the consultation and implementation of gift planning, principal gift and heritage gifts as well as the administration of Cleveland Clinic’s PYRAMID Legacy Society. He also serves as liaison to the General Counsel, Finance and Real Estate divisions.
Prior to joining the Cleveland Clinic staff, Wittenmyer practiced law in the Cleveland offices of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue and Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff.
