With top performances from junior Andrew Ibibo and junior Rachel Willard, the Case Western Reserve University men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition on Saturday evening at the Fourth-Annual CWRU Spartan Holiday Classic.
Ibibo crossed the line in the 400-meter dash in first place with a time of 50.70, while Willard jumped 10.37m for first place in the triple jump.
The Spartan men turned in six other top three performances throughout the meet. CWRU earned a first place finish in the 800-meter-run as sophomore Joseph Cabral finished with a time of 1:59.83. The Spartans earned a pair of second place finishes as freshman Jonathan Haling finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.22 and junior Grant Mlack placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58.
Sophomore Tyler Bushman finished third in the weight throw (13.61m), freshman Dominic Oddo finished third in the high jump (1.80m) and freshman Mitchell Webb finished third in the triple jump (11.64m).
The Spartan women also turned in six other top three performances throughout the meet. Sophomore Olivia Newman earned a second place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.52 and junior Skylar Braga finished second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8:04.
In the weight throw, junior Cassandra Laios finished third with a mark of 14.11m and finished third in the shot put with a career-best mark of 12.33m. Sophomore Shannon Carroll placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.44 and freshman Bari Love finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.52.
Braga, Love and Newman also teamed up with freshman Brianna Rees to finish first in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:49.99, second-fastest in school history.
The Spartans will continue their indoor season next Saturday as they travel to Kent, Ohio for the Kent State Golden Gala.
