Hollinger Betters Mark at Mount Union Last Chance Meet
ALLIANCE, Ohio – Case Western Reserve University senior Erin Hollinger (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) increased her odds of qualifying for the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship with an indoor career-best performance in the high jump at the University of Mount Union Last Chance Meet on Saturday at Peterson Field House.
Hollinger cleared a height of five feet, six and one-half inches to tentatively move into seventh place in the nation.
The two-sport standout entered the Last Chance Meet with a season-best mark of 5'5", which she hit last weekend at the University Athletic Association Indoor Championship – just one day after completing her storied career with the Spartan basketball team.
Hollinger is a two-time high jump All-American with fifth-place performances during the outdoor championships in both 2009 and 2011.
The NCAA Indoor T&F Championship is set for next Friday and Saturday, March 9-10, at the Grinnell Fieldhouse at Charles Benson Bear '39 Recreation and Athletic Center in Grinnell, Iowa. With plenty of last chance meets still in progress, qualifiers for the event will be announced tomorrow. The top-15 high jumpers automatically qualify.
