2012-13 Women’s Tennis Recruiting Class Ranked 23rd by Tennis Recruiting Network
MARIETTA, Ga. – The Tennis Recruiting Network has released its third annual NCAA Division III Women's Recruiting Class Top 25 poll, and the incoming class for Case Western Reserve University is ranked 23rd in the nation.
With seven incoming players, CWRU was one of six University Athletic Association programs ranked in the Top 25. One incoming Spartan earned a three-star ranking, while three earned two stars.
"For the first time in four years, we will field a team that is built to sustain depth in face of injury or sickness," said Head Coach Todd Wojtkowski. "Combining the players we have returning with this group of newcomers will create a great atmosphere of competition, and it feels amazing to know that we can involve more young women in collegiate tennis. In many ways, this class will serve as a key replacement for the group that we brought in during my first year. And with four players ranked in the top 400 in the nation, this class exudes the same type of qualities as our first."
Overall, Wojtkowski's incoming class represents five different states from around the nation with a pair of local products from Northeast Ohio.
In 2011-12, the Spartans turned in one of the best seasons in program history with an 18-6 overall record and only the second All-UAA selection for the team since 1994. In the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings of the year, the Spartans finished at No. 7 in the Central Region– the highest ranking in team history. The Spartan women also produced the No. 7 singles player and No. 8 doubles tandem in the region.
