Senior midfielder Elle Zadina scored three goals to give the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team a 3-1 victory against Oberlin College on Saturday afternoon at Shults Field.
With the win, the Spartans improve to 6-9-0 on the season, while Oberlin drops to 8-3-4 on the campaign.
CWRU's first goal came early at the 8:57 mark of the first half when Zadina recovered a rebound off a shot from sophomore forward Kimberly Chen and shot it from outside the box to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead.
The Yeowomen tied the score in the 28th minute of the first half when Elyse Douglas scored her off a penalty kick
Zadina scored her second goal of the game after she took a rebound shot from junior midfielder Angelina Batty and headed it past the Oberlin goalkeeper.
Zadina capped off the hat trick when she ripped a shot off a free kick to the top left corner of the net in the 88th minute of play. Zadina now leads the Spartans with six goals on the season.
Statistically, the Spartans held a 13-9 advantage in shots, while also leading in corner kicks, 7-5.
In net, sophomore Lauren Unterborn made three saves and improved to 6-9-0 on the season.
Case Western Reserve will return to action next weekend, when the team hosts University Athletic Association games against the University of Rochester on Friday, October 27th at 7:30 p.m. and Emory University on Sunday, October 29th at 1:30 p.m.
