Spartan Women to Play at Hiram; Return Home to Face Wash. & Jeff.

The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team will travel to Hiram, Ohio to face the Hiram College Terriers on Thursday, September 21st at 7:30 p.m. and then host the Washington & Jefferson College Presidents on Sunday, September 24th at 3:00 p.m.

CWRU Spartans (3-3-0)

The Spartans fell to Baldwin Wallace University, 1-0, on Wednesday evening in Berea, Ohio. After a scoreless first half, BW's Kayla Webb broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 80th minute. CWRU finished the match with a 13-12 edge in total shots, despite a 3-1 deficit in shots on goal during the contest.

CWRU struggled to get on track early in its games on Saturday afternoon, and despite a late push for an equalizer, the Spartans fell to Ohio Northern University 1-0. The Spartans finished the game with a 14-12 advantage in total shots, including a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Elle Zadina and freshman Emily Hauser each had a team-high four shots.

Hiram Terriers (2-4-1)

The Terriers recorded a 1-0-1 record this past week, playing to a 0-0 draw with Marietta College on Tuesday evening and then earning a 1-0 victory over Bethany College on Friday. Freshman Hannah Ward tallied her first collegiate goal in the 89th minute to lift the Terriers over the Bison's.

On Tuesday, Hiram suffered a 3-0 defeat to Baldwin Wallace University. Sophomore goalkeeper Ally Green made seven total saves throughout the game.

Washington & Jefferson Presidents (3-2-1)

The Presidents routed Franciscan University 5-0 on Tuesday night. Seniors Jordan Tooley and Ashton Grimma led W&J with two goals each. Toohey's first goal of the game was her 50th career goal, which made her just the fourth student-athlete in program history to reach the 50-goal mark. Senior Tatiana Ruzzini also played a major role, assisting on three of the Presidents five goals.

Washington and Jefferson will play host to Carnegie Mellon University on Friday, before traveling to Cleveland to face the Spartans on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Lauren Unterborn is currently ranked first among all University Athletic Association players with 27 saves and ranks fourth with a .844 save percentage…The Spartans have totaled 85 shots and 28 shots on goal in its first six games of the 2017 campaign…CWRU has held opponents to averages of just 5.3 shots on goal per game, and 12.3 shots per contest.
