Merriman Officially Named to NCAA Championship Field

Case Western Reserve University senior Sam Merriman was officially named to the field of 280 competitors for the 2017 NCAA Division III Championships, as announced on NCAA.com on Sunday afternoon.

This is the third-straight year that Merriman will compete at the NCAA Championships, after earning All-America honors with a 21st-place finish at last year's meet.  He earned qualification as an individual after placing fourth at the Great Lakes Region Championships on Saturday.

Merriman was the lone qualifier from CWRU, as senior Danielle Kulpins, who earned all-region honors with a 17th-place finish in the women's race on Saturday, fell just outside of the top-seven individuals in the region who did not qualify for the national championships as a part of a team.

The NCAA Division III Championships, hosted by Principia College in Elsah, Illinois, will be held on Saturday, November 18th.  More information on the event will be posted to athletics.case.edu later in the week.
